Guest Post: One Word Mantras

Today I have my college friend Trisha guest posting and sharing her new blog with us. Hope you enjoy it! :)

Hi there! Trisha here from One Word Mantras, a new blog that shares one word affirmations to inspire and guide your day. Thanks to Amy and Cupcakes & Couture for letting me guest post and spread the word about my site!

Remember Amy’s post about Angel Cards from a couple of months back? I also had angel cards in college, gifted to me by Amy and our friend Joia. Totally cool little cards with an inspiring word, meant to be selected each day. My blog One Word Mantras builds off of the idea of angel cards and brings you a virtual image and word of the day. Let me (briefly!) tell you how it all began…

I had been practicing yoga for about two years when I hit a stumbling block in my journey. I was having difficulty turning my thoughts off on the mat and wasn't able to focus. I began to concentrate on one word per class, chanting it to myself whenever my thoughts started to wander. Instantly I felt more connected and invigorated. On days when I needed extra willpower and wanted to push myself I chose fiery words of encouragement like…

On days when I was tired or needed to take it easy I chose gentle words like…

It completely changed my practice and I wanted to share this gift with others. So... I began creating images like the ones above and sharing them online! I love the idea of one strong power word to spark inspiration. It’s easy to remember, easy to focus on, and in a single word there’s a world of possibilities and interpretations that you can explore. I use mantras on the yoga mat to help me focus, but they can be used to encourage you during any type of practice, during meditation or simply to guide your day. Any way that is meaningful to you is a great way to use mantras!

I hope you will take the time to check out One Word Mantras and maybe sign up for my daily email! Thanks for reading!

  2. I like you have been obsessed with yoga for awhile but find the actual art of practicing and stilling my mind very hard. I have taken up meditation and the mantra we use is two words 'om hreem' and I have found it has helped me during stressful times! I look forward to following your blog :)
