DIY Initial Wall Decor

Last weekend when I was cleaning up my apartment, I found this wooden initial that I had bought awhile back with the intention to create something but had done nothing with. I had some free time on my hands, so I decided to make this pretty, girly piece of art to hang on my wall. I grabbed some scrapbook paper, rhinestones and a flower embellishment that I had left over and crafted away!

This project takes about 40 minutes from start to finish and requires very little skill, so anyone can try it, even if you don't consider yourself "crafty!" These initials would also be great for kids' bedrooms or to give as personalized gifts.

What you need...

What to do...
  1. Put your piece scrapbook paper down on the table (pretty side up) and lay the wooden letter on top of it.
  2. Trace the shape of the letter on the paper with a pencil, making sure to keep the traced line as close to the letter as possible.
  3. Cut the traced paper letter out.
  4. Take your fat paint brush, dip it in the Mod Podge and paint a thin layer of the glue on your wooden letter.
  5. Carefully and gently press the traced scrapbook paper letter on top of the wooden letter, making sure to line up the edges neatly.
  6. Once it's applied, paint another very thin layer of Mod Podge on top of the scrapbook paper to seal it to the wooden letter. Allow to dry for 15-20 minutes before moving on.
  7. Now that the paper has tried a bit, it's time to decorate! Use the hot glue gun to apply your embellished paper flower.
  8. Hot glue the rhinestones along the edge of your letter, about an inch apart, alternating colors as you see fit.
  9. Allow the letter to dry on a flat surface for at least 30 minutes before hanging on the wall.
  10. Admire and enjoy your new wall art! :)
