What She Wore: Arum Lilea

Hi everyone, I’m Leanne from Arum Lilea and I’ll be taking over today’s post so that Amy can relax and recover quickly.  Today I thought I’d share my tips for dressing for work.  Whether you’re working in a corporate environment or in a more relaxed field, the way you dress can always influence the perception of your work.  A dirty shirt implies sloppy work, or even worse, someone who takes no pride in what they do.  Of course this might be the complete opposite from the truth but why give anyone reason to think anything less than the best of you.

I’ve kept these two work looks extremely simple.  I’m working with basic pieces that are so versatile that everyone should keep these key items in their closet.  The three basics are: 1) a crisp white shirt 2) tailored black pants 3) a Little Black Dress (that’s not too little).  If you have these pieces, it lays the foundation for the rest of your work wardrobe.  You need only build on around these with a pencil skirt or colourful blazer for example.  You can also accessorize such plain basics with a bold lip, red nails and coloured shoes.  Add some colour; it can only brighten your day.  I hope these very simple tips add something to your work style.  I’d love to know what you think or if you have anything to add.

Thank you, Amy, for having me on Cupcakes & Couture today.  I hope you get well soon!

Amy's note: as someone who has worked in a corporate setting for the last 5 years, I give both of Leanne's looks a huge thumbs up! They're work appropriate yet stylish and unique at the same time - she will never be boring or blend in at her new job :)
