What I'll Wear: Black Tie Wedding

My friend Ashley is getting married this Saturday and I am so excited! Her wedding will be black tie which is the perfect opportunity to wear a gown and get all glammed up. I already have my dress, shoes and accessories so I put together a collage with what I'll wear and my makeup and hair inspiration. I'm going for old Hollywood glam in a classic black lace peplum gown with 1920s inspired hair and accessories. I'll make sure to post lots of photos after the wedding, but let me know what you think of my look in the comments below!

the dress: JARLO 'Pia' lace peplum gown - $149. I have a really hard time finding fitted dresses since my chest size is so much larger than my waist and hip size...it can be a real pain. I was so thrilled when I found this gown online at a price that couldn't be beat and it actually fit me like a glove with no alterations needed...win!! I feel like a celebrity when I put it on.
the clutch: House of Harlow 1960 'Danielle' clutch - $195 {purchased for $98.} I scored this clutch from Nicole Richie's accessory line for half off in a post-holiday online sale and think it compliments the dress perfectly. I love the sparkly leopard closure and classic shape!
the jewels: House of Harlow 1960 Sunburst Tassel earrings - $38. Since I plan to wear my hair down, I like how these fun vintage-inspired tassel earrings will dangle out of my hair when I move. I'll also stack a few gold bangles on one of my wrists.
the shoes: Pour La Victoire 'Yaya' sandals - $250. I already own these heels so I don't have to buy a new pair which is fantastic. I think the simple silhouette and gold hardware will coordinate well with the entire look - they will just barely peek out from under the dress.

the makeup: I plan on wearing a dramatic black cat eye with long lashes and bold red or burgundy lipstick a la Marilyn Monroe! I'll keep my face otherwise simple by going light on the eyeshadow and blush.
the hair: I'm going to attempt Sienna Miller's retro-glam side swept waves using this tutorial from The Beauty Department. I hope I can pull it off because I think it's the perfect hairstyle for this dress!

  1. I've been one to one black tie wedding but the dress code was NOT this fancy (which is a bummer, because I wanted to wear a long dress!). You're going to look amazing!
