Style Inspiration: Bridesmaid Hair

Okay stylish readers, I need your help! I'm a bridesmaid in my friend Joia's wedding this upcoming weekend {as well as baking over 100 cupcakes for her guests...eek!} and I'll be in charge of doing my own hair {a casual updo style} for the ceremony. I have mastered wearing my hair down with loose waves, but that's about it...I have zero skills with putting my hair up except for a bun for ballet class or a pony for the gym! I've chosen three styles below that I think I can achieve: a wavy side pony, a messy high bun and a pretty side bun. Which do you think I should try?

For reference, here's what my dress looks like:

Option 1: Wavy side ponytail

Option 2: messy high bun

Option 3: pretty side bun

  1. i think the messy up bun could be the easiest. are you wearing a necklace? if so would show off nicely to have all your hair up.

  2. Your hair is so long and full, you should let it shine with a wavy side pony! But you'll look gorgeous no matter how you style it :)

ps - Good luck with all those cupcakes, haha!

  3. I love the wavy side pony option–I think it will look great with the strapless dress (which is adorable, by the way!).

  6. I vote for the side ponytail or side bun. I think they will photograph better than a messy bun and look more put together. Good luck with the cupcakes!

  10. I think I like option 3 best, but your long pretty hair would look so good in a pony too!

  12. I'd definitely go with the side pony! If you were wearing a necklace I'd say bun, but I feel that the pony will be the nicest accent to the earrings!

    Have fun!!

  13. I love the side pony inspiration! I never wear my hair up but might have to try that as well because it's just so pretty! Would look great with your dress as well :)

  14. We were at a wedding this weekend, and while I wasn't a bridesmaid, I came to the realization that I am TERRIBLE at doing any sort of hairstyle for fancy events! So I love these inspiration photos. I would go for the side pony personally, but having your hair more up is always better for dancing the night away!

  16. How did the fitting go?! I think all of them are gorgeous and would look great with your dress. I really like the messy side pony though, especially the first pic. You have such great hair and it's a perfect length for that look!

Can't wait to see what you go with! Good luck with the cupcakes!

  17. Such a pretty dress! I wore a similar one in July and I did a side bun with lots of volume- I say do that!

  18. The very last one is the only choice as its classy and ladylike. Remember all eyes are on you and your hair as you walk down the aisle, so you want to be as classy as possible. No messy buns! Target sells a "spin Pin" which makes a bun easy and keeps it in place all day. Its in the hair accessory aisle. Have fun

  19. I have Truly Me number 35 and it is very hard to do her hair. Her front layer always falls out of the hairstyle if I can somehow manage to get them up I really think these styles will help me. For more details Visit Website
