Cupcakes & Couture x Miss Massachusetts

Happy Wednesday! I'm back today to share a collaborative outfit post shot with my friend and our current Miss Massachusetts America, Meagan Fuller! Those of you who have been following my blog for a while probably know that I served on the board and currently volunteer for the Miss Boston Organization, as well as judging local pageants across New England. I met Meagan two years ago when she competed for and won the title of Miss Boston and we have kept in touch ever since. She was crowned Miss Massachusetts in June and will go on to compete at Miss America next month, and since one of the four points of the Miss America crown is style, we thought it would be fun to do a post together highlighting pageant fashion.

This is the first time I've styled someone else for a shoot - except for the crown and sash, Meagan is dressed head to toe in pieces from my closet - and I absolutely loved it! I've always enjoyed shopping for my friends and helping to choose their outfits, but styling someone other than myself for a photoshoot was so much fun. :)

Amy: While there's no specific dress code for pageant attendees to follow, I consider each pageant a great opportunity to get dressed up and look my best! I think it shows the perfect level of respect for all of the women who have worked so hard preparing for the pageant and are brave enough to walk across the stage in a swimsuit, perform their hearts out during the talent portion, and look stunning in their evening gowns. This outfit would be perfect for an afternoon or evening pageant because it's classy, chic and sophisticated.

Meagan: As Miss Massachusetts, I have the opportunity to attend a variety of events from children's hospital visits to galas. The environments can range from glamorous to casual and everything in between! Although the crown and sash tend to glam up any outfit, I try to create an ensemble that reflects the context of each event. This particular outfit is fresh and vibrant, with a little retro spin to highlight my old soul personality. It's perfect for a day event, like walking the boardwalk of Atlantic City, NJ for the Miss America Pageant this September 13th!

As you can probably see, Meagan and I had such a great time shooting together! Make sure to tune in to the Miss America pageant at 9pm ET on September 13th to cheer Meagan on, and follow her journey to the pageant on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
